Year 3~Day 310 +281/365 AND Day 1041: Furlough Day Number One

I was able to act like a retired person today. I got up later than usual and went to the Hair Clinic for a shampoo and set. Jim arrived just as I was ready to leave. Mary Clark cut his hair, and he invited her to have lunch with us at the VCC. The food was delicious as usual. Jim and I went to the gas station, and he filled my car in preparation for my trip tomorrow. Then I drove back over the mall area and got a pedicure and manicure at U.S. Nails. I had intended to pack today, but I procrastinated, as usual. I did some more research on vacationing in the Houston area. Carl called, and we discussed some of our options for day trips. He is taking off both Friday and Monday; so, we’ll have Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to drive around looking for photo opportunities. I’ve charged some camera batteries, downloaded some photos from my SD cards, downloaded some movies from my Flip video, and have CD-RW’s ready to pack since I don’t plan to take my own computer with me. I’ve also decided to take my Nikon D80 with the zoom lens only.

Year 2~Day 335 +306/366: Getting Ready for a Business Trip

I’m packing my clothes to go to the technology conference. I’m leaving right after school on Tuesday. It’s about 10 degrees colder in Atlanta than in south Georgia; so, I’ll need to layer my clothes. It was good to have an extra hour (Fall Back) to try on clothes and put together outfits.
This morning I went to the beauty shop and got my hair washed, rolled, dried, and combed. Then I went to U.S. Nails for a pedicure and manicure. He took the corn off the side of my foot. Then I walked to Goody’s to get some kneehighs and socks. Well, I ended up buying several pieces of clothing. At least most pieces were about 50% off the regular price. Since I couldn’t find any kneehighs at Goody’s, I stopped at the Colonial Mall because I knew that Belk’s had a big hosiery department. Well…..that is no longer true. They’ve put it in a corner near the back. I did buy a few pairs of kneehighs and some more socks.
After I got home I graded a few papers, filed them, and put the grades in my online Gradebook.
There are always many things to do before a trip.

I really don’t know what it is about this shot – but i feel there’s something vaguely naughty about it… I have no idea… maybe its the finger in the mouth – the fact that I’m looking off camera… the fuzzy red blanket…
I grabbed a shot this morning while I was laying on the couch watching Stargate: Atlantis (yes I am geeky)
Year 5~Day 203 +174/365 AND Day 1664: Lunch–Chicken Salad with Fruit at VCC

I ate lunch with Jim at the VCC. Then I went to U.S. Nails for a pedicure and manicure. Next I took some cardboard boxes to LARC. I stopped at two stores to get some shoes to wear in the pool. A Wal-Mart worker had to go in the back to find some in my size. I was late getting to Stone Creek swimming pool for the water aerobics class, and the sky was looking dark. I went ahead and changed to my swim suit and got in the pool. After about 20 minutes, it began to rain harder with thunder and lightning. The class was then cancelled. It was raining very hard as I drove home. When I got home, the electricity was off. I sat in partial darkness and read "Cranford" on my Kindle app on my iPhone 4 for about 45 minutes, and then the lights came on. Jim had stayed a little late at work to avoid the storm. He brought me a Burger King grilled chicken sandwich, and we watched the 3rd episode of "Wives and Daughters."
Jim was my human tripod for this photo even though I did take one hand-held SP. I liked this one better.
Question by silverk75: How to give myself a Manicure & Pedicure?
I only have toe clippers, scissors, nail file, polish and toe separators.
How can I give myself a comforting mani/pedi that doesn’t take a lot of time and is pretty simple?
I want it clean, like no blisters and that stuff and I have lotion for my skin.
Thanks and I want it inexpensive

Answer by N M
1. wash your hands/ feet
2. clip your nails with the scissors or clippers
3. shape them with the file (rounded nails are in style right now)
4. paint your nails (2-3 coats)
5. once dry, after about 45 minutes, apply the lotion
you could also buy a base and top coat to put before and after painting, makes it look better and last longer
you can buy some cuticle tools (like pusher, trimmer, clipper, oil) to groom your cuticles if they are in bad shape

Question by Alyssa: How much does a manicure&pedicure (together) cost at wal mart?
Best answer:
Answer by RagDoll_66
Hmmm I would guesstimate about….25-30? I walked by our WalMarts salon and a manicure was $ 10 ..so I assume a pedicure costs about 15-20. Don’t they usually have a big sign showing all the prices?

Question by : Ladies, what are your feelings on a man getting a manicure/pedicure?
Edit: I would have thought that most women would have appreciated a man who takes pride in his appearance. Even down to his fingernails.
Best answer:
Answer by amy
ehhh.. I think it would be weird if he had nicer nails than me, considering I don’t usually get mani/pedi’s.
Plus, I think him having a more scruffy look makes him look more masculine, personally.
